It's been a strong year for Thai queer films, and one of the major pillars has been The Blue Hour
(Onthakan, อนธการ), a coming-of-age romance and suspense thriller.

The story involves a teenager named Tam (Atthaphan Poonsawas) who is bullied at school and unloved at home. He arranges to meet a stranger named Phum (Oabnithi Wiwattanawarang) at a spooky, abandoned swimming pool. There, amid the moldering surroundings, the two young men have rough sex and then talk about ghosts. A friendship forms, and it leads to extremely dark places.

Lost In Paradise 2011 (Vietnam GAY Movie)

The film is set in Saigon, where Khôi arrives from Nha Trang after being disowned by his family on account of his homosexuality. Đông, who has a Northern accent and appears to be a non-native Saigoneer, befriends him and invites him to share an apartment along with Lam, who is—unbeknownst to Khôi—actually Đông's lover. At the apartment, Đông and Lam rob him of his money and belongings; Đông in turn abandons Lam and flees with the cash. Lam later happens upon an injured Khôi sleeping rough. In pity he returns the latter's clothes and identity papers and after a tentative reconciliation the two become friends and ultimately lovers. Lam returns to his life as a prostitute while Khôi attempts to work as a bookseller. A returning, manipulative Đông dogs the couple which culminates in Lam wounding his antagonist with a stab to the foot. Khôi eventually leaves Lam because of the latter's work as a prostitute. An increasingly desperate Lam takes to robbing his clients at knife-point; a gang of men in the employ of one such victim kills Lam at the film's climax.

The film’s second plot concerns a mentally-handicapped man named Cười and his endeavors to raise a duckling, while intermittently attempting to befriend a prostitute, Hạnh. This enrages her pimp who takes to beating both as a deterrent. The initially hostile Hạnh warms to Cười as his duckling grows. At the film’s close, the pimp's threat to eat Cười's duck prompts Hạnh to club her and an enforcer to death.

Love Next Door 2 is a sequel to a hit 2013 indie gay romantic comedy. It's about a virginal young man (Angkoon Jeenukul) who becomes the object of lust for customers at the restaurant where he works. Ratthapol Pholthabtim, Tanwarin Sukkhapisit and Jenny Panan are among the stars. Rated 18+.

Love Next Door is a special project of Thitipan Raksasat who aims to make a low budget sexy comedy film to be released online. The first original Love Next Door is the story of a man who stays in a friend’s apartment and a guy next door happens to be an escort guy. One day, a customer comes to knock the wrong door so he goes with the flow because he wants the money. Then it becomes the beginning of their love story. The film stars Asia Jeennukul and Top Smith and it was released online in Thailand on 15 January 2013. The film is selected for screening in international LGBT film festivals – Hong Kong, Indonesia and The Philippines and the film gains a great feedback from audiences as it becomes a main inspiration for the sequel. Love Next Door 2 is led by the same leading actor moving forward into his new chapter of life with new people. With more budget and shooting days, the film is planned to be released in theatres under cooperation of Raweewach Thananset and co-presenting with Handmade Distribution and G2D. See you in theatres in November.

My Hero 2015 (Thai GAY Movie)

In a time when Thailand is facing a serious and deadly insurgent problem, we witness the coming of age of a Thai named Oat (Ingkarat “Ryu” Damrongsakkul อิงครัตดำรงค์ศักดิ์กุล ). The 11-year old kid has an older brother, Ek (Thira “Um” Chutikul ถิรชุติกุล), who is about to participate in a military draft. Unlike the way Koreans are drafted into their own military, the Thai way is reported to be based on "luck", though the film shows that it depends on the social standing and ability of the family to "keep" their sons out of said drafting. You see, Ek is gay and his boyfriend, Jai comes from a socially prominent family... 

At this time, the boys are already orphans and live with their Aunt, where Ek is the breadwinner. If Ek gets a red card, it means he'll join the military for 2 years of service. What would happen to Oat if his brother gets drafted? How can they survive when the only one capable of providing for their everyday needs has to go away? What would happen if Ek gets killed?

Father and Son, meanwhile, has a more serious tone, with its story of a gay dad who has raised his surrogate son alone after the death of his partner. The kid, weary of being bullied, seeks to break out on his own. He takes up with a guy who it turns out has a crush on the kid's dad. In limited release at CentralWorld and Esplanade Ratchada, Father and Son is rated 20-.
